When you think of love, what comes to mind? I hope that you associate it with happiness because recently I hear and read people talk so negatively when it comes to it. They unfortunately associate it with pain, when it is not the act of love or love itself that brings you hurt, but the act of whatever or whoever hurt you. We need to remember relationships will never be perfect. However, they should never be painful or draining.
"...make sure you are surrounding yourself with people who are good for you."
Now when I talk about love and relationships, I mean it towards friendships and romantic relationships. Of course everyone has different types of relationships when it comes to friends but there are people in your life that you will create a great bond with. So just like romantic relationships, friendships should be taken as seriously. Whatever type of relationships you are in right now or are looking to be in, make sure you are surrounding yourself with people who are good for you. People who make you happy and you do the same for them, ones who encourage you and never make a point to bring you down, who are reliable and you know will always be there when you need them.
"One thing that so many people have difficulty doing is just simply talking to each other..."
Although a relationship does take effort, it should never feel like work or something you have to do. Sure there will be ups and downs along the way but if it's good it should at least naturally flow for the most part. If you come to a point in a relationship where you realize there are way more downs than ups, really think about what's wrong and then talk to each other. Have a true heart to heart! One thing that so many people have difficulty doing is just simply talking to each other, which is because a lot of us are afraid of telling each other our true feelings. But, I promise if we all practiced honesty in how we feel, it would be so much easier. Right now all we do is assume, wait and hope that the other person will just know how we feel. However, that will never be the case if we never say anything.
Why do we have to be so afraid to just be open with each other?
I think a good thing to practice in a relationship is to just let each other know what we don't like. So first have a conversation agreeing to letting each other know what you don't like either when it happens or find and set some time aside to talk about it. Then actually do it! Whether it's simply saying you don't like what was said to you, how they sound when they talk to you, they seemingly to have a constant attitude, how they treat you sometimes, something they don't do that you wish they did, and... I mean the list could go on and on. Just voice it and always try to do it in a way where you don't have an attitude with it yourself. Also, as you expect them to listen and hear you out, please do the same for them. Go into the conversation with an open mind. At the end of it all try to come to an agreement and do better by each other because with this I'm sure (if taken seriously amongst the both of you) that it will make the relationship stronger because talking more, correcting problems and setting things straight will lead to less confusion and less stress.
Then when you cancel out the negativity it makes way for more happiness and love! Yes it's always easier said than done, but when you find the right people it won't be as hard to do.
